Learning Objectives:
Upon completion the student should be able to:
- Define pH, pOH , and pKa
- Calculate the pH of strong acid, strong base solution
- Calculate the pH of a mixture of strong acids and strong
bases
- Calculate the pH of a weak acid
- Calculate the pH of a weak base.
- Calculate the percentage of ionization of a weak acid or
base
- Determine if a salt will form an acidic, basic or neutral
solution.
- Calculate the pH of a salt solution.
- Predict whether an oxide will produce an acidic or basic
solution
- Define an acid and base according to Bronsted-Lowry theory and
Lewis theory
