Upon completion the student should be able to:
Objectives: Chapter 11 Gas Laws
- Apply Boyle's Law to pressure volume problems
- Apply Charles Law to volume temperature problems
- Apply Gay-Lussacc principle to temperature-pressure
problems
- Interpret graphs using P,T,V or N as variables
- Calculate P, V, or T from combine gas law equation
- Calculate the amount of gas at any set of conditions using
PV=nRT
- Convert mole of gas to volume at STP
- Calculate the density of a given gas at any set of
conditions
- Calculate the total pressure of a gas from partial
pressures.
- Calculate the partial pressure of a gas collected over
water
- Apply gas law to stoichiometric calculations
- Explain using kinetic theory, why molecules of small mass
diffuse more rapidly than larger molecules at a given temp.
- Calculate the relative rate of diffusion between two gases at
a given temperature
