Description of Workshop:
This workshop is designed to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, strategies, and methods that have been successful in IB Chemistry. Emphasis will be placed on how to help IB Chemistry teachers from schools who are in the application process better understand the IB curriculum. This course will focus on the development of a chemistry curriculum model, laboratory program, Internal Assessment (IA) rubrics and protocols, external assessment preparation and Group 4 Projects.
Who should attend this workshop:
Chemistry teachers who are new to IB or are in the IB Diploma Programme application process.
Program Objectives:
Participants will understand more fully the philosophy of IB Chemistry and the Diploma Programme.
Participants will understand practices associated with adhering to the philosophy of the IBO and Diploma Programme.
Participants will understand more fully IBO assessment practices for the Diploma Programme.
Participants will gain understanding of successful methods of preparing students for Diploma Programme assessments.
Participants will develop a Chemistry curriculum model to support HL and SL Chemistry.
Participants will gain understanding of the IB Chemistry laboratory program.
Participants will gain understanding of Internal Assessment (IA) rubrics and protocols, External Assessment and the Group 4 Project
Materials to bring
Several samples of your favorite laboratory experiment, demonstration, activity or best
practice to share. (please provide enough copies for 20 participants)

A workbook and Chemistry subject guide are included as part of the participants registration fee.
